Codenamed "Reflexive Rejects", these are the levels that never made it into the Infinity pack but I thought good enough to form a user set (with some tweaks). This is what I came up with while learning all the new plug-ins

Description by Shaz: This set was made during the early days of Ricochet Infinity, and removed after the game was released to fix some bugs. If you haven't seen it already, there might be some nice surprises. If you've played it earlier, there isn't much of a difference.

I really enjoyed playing this roundset. It is so great to play levels that each have a game play related concept. All these levels challenge the player to decide the best way to approach the level. The player decides how to destroy the level and what to aim at first. In level 14 (Set Your Sights High) you destroy the level by using nudge bricks. In levels 9 (Wandering rings) you try to destroying the right bricks at the right time to break the chain of changers and leave the changing bricks in an easy to break state. In round 12 (Rail Ball Rescue) you try to aim for the changer brick first to eliminate all the 13 hit bricks (change them to indestructible bricks that don’t need to be destroyed). If you break the chain before hitting this changer you will not get this benefit.

All of this is so refreshing compared to typical RLW “user made levelsâ€

Here are some specific things I noticed in this particular roundset

L1: Just when you thought it was safe: Nice use of the new pitch bending sound options
L2: Rings are yours if you play your cards right: The bottom row of bricks has a very “organicâ€

Aw CRUMBS James! I never realised you could get stuck on round 9 and have to break through those indestructibles!

There's a change brick on either side of the 3 powerups at the bottom. The INTENTION is to hit either of those when they're close to the indestructibles in the middle, and either change them all to 3-hits or exploders. But as you've found, and as I totally overlooked, it's possible to change both of them when they're nowhere near that chain of bricks, and end up with all indestructibles! And if you then take out the two bricks on the end of that row of changers and you're left without powerups, then you're in strife!

Glad you played it this way 'cause it now gives me a chance to fix it before the multitudes see it! Is there a point at which you're going to "wipe" all the user-submitted sets and start again, like you did with BKW (or was it BKR2)? Or can I make a fix here and resubmit this set?

(Oh - thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked the levels!)

Shaz, I had the same problem as James with round 9, I was actually waiting for the indestructibles to move or do something, I did download this a few weeks ago shortly after you submitted it so don't know if you sent a fix in the meantime.
The whole set is cool. Favorite was the canvas one withe the flowers and the rain. I lol when the caterpillar started climbing up the side of the screen, I was expecting it to leave and come back in the other side.
Very good, it was fun.

Hey Alf,

no, I haven't sent a fix in for that level, but I will soon (I was waiting to see if any other "bugs" appeared). That caterpillar level took me ages to do, with the caterpillar and raindrops. And the day I submitted it was the day BigMama's revisions to her Daisies Need Water Too level had been finished and her level was accepted. Ion said they were too similar for mine to be accepted too. mmmmm - pipped at the post - again! That one's one of Zach's favourites.

The same happened to me with a bumblebee round.
I was pipped with that one, I think by BigMama.
Maybe we should change her name to BigPipper. lol.

I found no other problems with the set.
I wouldn't call it a bug either because everyone who gets to play it will have the restart feature. I restarted and knew straight away to be careful, it is up to you if you fix or not. Might be better to to, to stop the public from nit-picking.

Was fun anyway, thanks.

LOL!!! Maybe we should just get used to the fact that it's the quick and the dead around here, and BigMama sure is quick! :D

:D I wondered how long it'd take before you saw that :D

Not long as it turns out. All I can say is that you and Alf must have more of a LIFE than I do that causes me to slip a level in before you...lol

Just call me the pipster... 8)

I finally have started playing these levels since the creativity end is done. Shaz, what can I say that hasn't already been said. These levels are amazing. I got all the rings first time around (which is good for me). I'd list some of the fav's, but you'd pretty much have the whole set. One thing I will mention though, and that's that I like your daisy set better than mine. I love what you did with the splashing water and caterpillar. I can see where that level alone would have taken quite a bit of your time. You really shined on that!

Anyway, if we could vote, I'd give you a 5/5!!! 8)

5/5 - hold onto that thought.... will be interesting to see how the voting works with Infinity! With all the rounds YOU had accepted, you must have a set of about 100 rejects ready to be released? Or did so many of yours get in because you didn't HAVE any rejects?

Author:  BigMama [ Mon Dec 18, 2006 2:53 am ]
Post subject:

Oh believe me, there were plenty of rejects. :? The rejects I ended up liking (even after Ion's comments ) were actually put into the Big Mamas Rejects. The rest of them were sent to File 13.

File 13 - hmmmm, I don't know where the name comes from, but I get the reference. I have one of those too ;-)
