Is it possible and safe to copy it to a USB-Stick?
If that's possible, we feel safe. :)

Hi: I located the stats file but I can't open it? How do I transfer it over -- sorry to sound dumb but, I have over
216,000 rings and I hate to see them go away?

Your help would be appreciated.

You don't need to try to open it.

All you need to do is, when you have reinstalled your game, copy your stats file into the folder where your game is. If you have played the game since your reinstall, there should be a stats file there, if so you will be asked if you are sure you want to replace the file with your saved one. Overwriting that one will give you your rings back.

Make sure you don't have the game running when you transfer your file in. If you can't find the folder, right click your Infinity icon, Properties and then find target should locate it for you.

Because of you, Alf, I have also decided to back my 24000+ rings up.

Just 'cause.

I thought I would throw a reminder in here to backup-email your stats file to yourself!

My program just messed up!

When I click to play a game, it loaded then went immediately to the PAUSE list. Thankfully, a reboot fixed it =D> .....but it could have been worse!!!!

don't you know it.

I send mine to different mailboxes in case one of those go kaput.
Cable
g-mail
yahoo mail
aol

I treasure my 140,000 rings and would be sick for losing them when such a easy step to back up.

Does the stats.dat file contains everything needed to backup?

In the Ricochet Infinity folder there are other files which are updated regularly (I see 5 files updated after last run). Then there is the ROUNDS folder which contain all downloaded user levels (I have 58 Mb in 268 files). Does the stats.dat file keep record of the progress etc. of these rounds?
