I am attempting to create some rounds and have been going nuts trying to figure out how one user had created a brick (500 of them, actually) that gives out 500 ion's with a single hit.
All I can accompolish is 500 bricks stacked one on the other and it takes 500 hits to collect them.
I tried copy/pasting his brick(s) into my round set and again - it would take 500 hits.....
Looked into all the properties I could and can't figure that one out.

The particular rounds I am talking about are from "Ten Thousand Leagues", level 6, "Ladies and gentlemen... this is going to be fun!"

Thanks for any help!
Tom

The round you are talking about, The 500 extra ions are surrounded by 3 exploder bricks. They look like them 3-hit bricks but that is just a starfish effect. When they explode, they destroy all 500 in one go.

You only need 1 exploder brick to do this. If you want, place all your bricks together. you can then put an exploder brick on the screen. drag the exploder over to where the (500) are. If you now press the 'End' button whilst the exploder is highlighted, it will hide behind the other bricks and if done correctly, should be the first out of the 501 bricks to be hit, thus destroying all in the surrounding area.

(smacking forehead with heel of hand)
Thanks Alf!
I don't know why I didn't see that when I was examining his screens.
(smacking forehead again)
..and I was quick to note that after making that post last night, I was in posting to the wrong area.. should have been under technical?
Anyway, thanks for the info - and I also enjoyed some of your rounds too.

Tom

Tom,
There is another way to get all the bricks to do a similar thing.
I don't want to confuse you but will tell you anyway.

You can give the power-up bricks a sequence.
Step 1. Wait for brick to be destroyed. (Pick the trigger brick)
Step 2. Destroy self.

Then copy and paste the brick with the plug-in as many times as you like and to different parts of the screen if you like.

Have fun.

Alf.

hi tom, i'm looking forward to playing your set!

one tip -- please keep in mind that many players don't like hundreds of balls -- it simply takes too long at the end of the level to count them. if you plan to use more than 500, please include enough other bricks on the screen so that the player has the option of letting the majority of the extra spheres 'drain' before the level ends....please! :D

TT Tornado -

Didn't plan on lotsaballs - after reading some of the posts about that I decided I best toe the line.
Prior to that though I had considered flooding the screen with a jillion balls with little starfish attached (1,000 points each)
But, I shall refrain and instead, toss a lot of rings and ion's in.

Been spending most of the day today getting the hang of movment and fake bricks. *heh*

Got one little question though.. Seems like I saw someplace that you can click/drag somehow to paste a bunch of bricks?
can't find it now..

Tanx -
Tom

Hi Tom,

nice to see another new creator "learning the ropes". I think you posted your question in "General Comments" but I see it's been moved to "Level Editor Help and Information", which is the correct place for it to be. If you take a look at other topics in that area you'll find a wealth of information. And if you're stuck getting something to do what you want it to, the Level Editor forum is the place to post - there are heaps of people around here who'll be more than happy to give you a hand.

Another area that's good to read up on I THINK is the sticky at the top of the Level Editor.... forum - things to keep in mind when designing sets. If you can't locate it, you can also go to the link at the bottom of the new levels download page, "for information on submitting your set", and there's a link to the topic there. It's just a list of stuff that's been identified to cause problems on past levels, so you can avoid the same mistakes.

Hope you're having lots of fun with the editor!

hi tom, gosh, i'm glad you changed your mind for your first set anyway!

the info shaz refers to is highly recommended.

if you want to copy and paste a group of bricks, just use the usual windows cut and paste features (cntrl-c, cntrl-v, etc). you can also copy the plug ins in the same way -- just click on the brick you want to copy the plug in from, then press cntrl-c, then click on the brick, or highlight the group of bricks you want to paste that plug in to, then click shift and + at the same time. all this info is in the editor info that shaz referred to.

i can't wait to see your set!

Sheesh... must be getting old here! *heh* (60)
Just by mistake I happened to right-click and dragged the mouse and sure enough... a slew of bricks.
I had been thinking I had to hold down a key and then click-drag.
Only thing I can't get the hang of (at the moment) is the "blend to position" or whatever that is.. Make the bricks yo-yo.
But, I have managed to create a screen or two of turmoil. One of which I appropriately named "OMG!"
I am on my sixth level/screen and I am at a loss as to how some folks can think of 125 or 200 or even 50 rounds!
Wouldn't it be nice if a person could design their own bricks.. You know.. Like round bricks with a number in it or the alphabet and so on.
Saw somewhere in one of the forums mention made of a ball that would pretty much nuke anything in it's path and keep on going instead of bouncing off. That would be a good one to have.

Ummm... what was the question again?
Tom

way to go tom! glad you're figuring this stuff out.

you can view the plug ins of other sets -- sometimes that helps to figure out how to do something. just make sure you don't copy anyone else's work -- it will cause a rejection of your set once you submit it.

That is true Tom.
I learnt most of the things I do, by looking at bricks from other sets.
Sometimes it will look confusing but it will all make sense in the end.
Good to hear there is a new set in the making.

the level editor documentation is very helpful, but there's nothing like seeing how a brick moves, then checking into it's plug ins -- it just seems to be easier to learn that way.

also, the previous suggestion by shaz to read all the info here on the forum -- you'll get lots of help there. there's a topic somewhere named "how do i?" and it's mostly question and answer on specific movements, etc.

good luck, looking forward to that set.

good memory TT. I started a few topics a while back with "tutorials" on the level editor. One of them was how to make a path in the shape of a star (so it actually LOOKED like a star). I think the other one was a spiral - I got a few requests for that when I released one of my sets. I think I started the topic names with TUTORIAL. Then there was another set of threads I started called HOT TIPS or something like that - one was to do with making bricks move (or might have been how to get them lined up JUST the way you want them). I don't remember what the others were about but if you just do a search on TUTORIAL or HOT TIPS in the subject line you should find them - they were all in the Level Editor section of the forum. Not sure if those were the ones you were referring to.

yes, they're there, i just checked....there are also a few topics that start with "how do i", you can use that for finding a couple of other great tips.

tom, in case you haven't figured this out -- shaz is our resident expert on the level editor -- if you play any of her sets, you'll see how awesome she is at making things move....she does some freaky stuff, good freaky, not freaky freaky. especially her later sets -- check em out for some real cool movements.
